In light of the Covid pandemic, I am taking advantage of my extra time and expanding my horizons. Yesterday was a day I had been waiting for. A few years ago while I was visiting my neighbor, I noticed some glass jars on her granite countertop and was curious about them. The jars contained a brownish liquid, and I had to ask what she was up to. It turns out that my friend had been brewing her own kombucha tea and she offered me a taste.
I loved it of course! As an avid hot tea drinker, I was curious about this new trendy cold tea so my buddy May, who is married to a Tea Master, offered to show me how to brew it. Anyway, as they say, the rest is history. I’ve been brewing my own kombucha from May’s SCOBY now for almost 4 years. I keep track of the batch number and I’m up to #122.
A number of people have asked me to show them how to brew kombucha. Of course, I’ve obliged them. I’ve brought the SCOBY (symbiotic colony of bacteria and yeast) up to New York, and have taught a few gals here in southeastern NC how to brew it. So, yesterday, I decided to video the entire process of brew making. There are two major steps-one is making the tea, and the second is brewing it and pouring it into your Ball jars. I’ve sent the video to my friends so they could see the process and use it on their own. I took the time and taped a video on how to brew kombucha for beginners and it’s now up on YouTube and here on my website. This is my very first video so I’m still learning how to do it. Thankfully, I have help from Serena, my video expert.
Check out the video and let me know if you need any assistance. Kombucha is a probiotic ancient fermented Chinese tea and it’s a trendy beverage. If you have questions, let me know. If you’re local, I’d be happy to get you started!
If I get the urge, I may start to video some card making projects during this downtime, so stay tuned. I’m also working on my sequel and am moving along nicely. Stay safe and wash your hands, often.
