This sequestration has gone on long enough. We’re in week 6 or so, and as the days turn into weeks, the boredom is getting worse, not just for me, but everyone I talk to feels the same way.
I’ve been cooking and crafting, and stamping is a LIFESAVER. Honestly, I have to repeat this. Without my stamping hobby, I would be in serious trouble. They do say that depression, alcoholism, and divorce will tick up as a result of the lockdown. I do feel badly for small businesses, and I mean small, under 25. I hope my favorite Japanese/Korean restaurant will open up and quite frankly, I have my doubts as they were struggling before Covid. So, is there more positive or negative fallout from this situation?
Well, it’s a mix. I’ve been making tons of cards and having fun being creative. I’ve been posting cards to my creative gallery and to Pinterest. I’ve been using lots of Kit leftovers and scraps to make some amazing cards. Check out my Bold and Bright quilt cards. I plan to make a bunch more of these, too, as they’re my new favorite.
Today I crafted and then went out for a bike ride. It was a bit brisk, so I didn’t enjoy myself as normal, but what made it worse was some dopey fellow walking on the path oblivious to his surroundings. As I was nearing his back, I rang my bike bell to alert him to move over. Well, he didn’t hear the high pitched ring, and as I passed him on his left, he shouted to me in a rude tone. I responded as I biked forward, that I had rung my bell. It’s clear to me that he didn’t have his hearing aid on and probably thought I was some teenager. My takeaway here is that forcing people into lockdown has its negative effects. Surely this fellow hadn’t seen the light of day in some time and needed to vent his frustration and anger at me, a total stranger.
I usually go biking with my better half and from now on, I will make sure he’s with me. People are rude and nasty, and have no clue about situational awareness. It’s a dang good thing that I didn’t see this guy’s face, nor he mine. The last thing any of us needs is to feel any more anger and frustration that is a result of faulty modeling and political posturing. Those folks don’t care about ‘we the people’ and if you think they do, think again. When the uber wealthy political class shows off a $24K freezer full of high end ice cream and gelato, we’ve got a serious problem.
After I came in from my bike ride, I immediately headed to my stamping studio to unwind and put that rudeness behind me. Thank goodness for stamps, paper, and inks. Paper crafting is one of the best things that ever happened to me, and yes, it was all because I went to a stamping party 15 years ago. Maybe Anna Manella has something to say about that! (She’s the star of Orange Glow Stampers if you’re wondering.)
