Since we’re still in lockdown mode here, and the new annual catalog is coming in days, I thought it was time to do some organizing and get rid of the old and make room for the new. During these past 2 months, which evaporated into thin air, I’ve made hundreds of cards, really, and needed to update my Expogo card display board. I found a cute card from one of the crafting cruises I attended (and spoke at) and wanted to duplicate this card before I deep sixed it in my card storage containers.
I’ve posted this card in a new gallery-Fun Folds Cards. There wasn’t sufficient room there to add details and instructions so I’m going to attempt to do that for you here. BTW, this is pretty easy, and a great project for new and casual stampers. Let’s go…
Here’s what you’ll need: Card base-4 1/4 x 5 1/2 – you can get four of these from one 8 1/2 x 11 piece of cardstock; Long strip same color as card base-8 1/2 x 1; White piece-11 x 3; DSP-5 1/2 x 3; Small piece of base color-2 3/4 x 2; small piece of white for sentiment-2 1/2 x 1 7/8. Leave an 1/8 inch or so on each side as a border for your sentiment. Snail or tombo, bone folder, rhinestones, versamark ink, embossing powder, heat tool. You can use regular ink if you don’t want to emboss or don’t have the tools.
First, stamp your sentiment on the small white piece in versamark ink. Add gold embossing powder and heat. Set aside. Place the calypso base in front of you. I’ve used calypso coral and pink in the samples. (You can use any color combos that appeal to you.) Adhere the long calypso strip in the center of the calypso base. Fold over the end and crease it down with your bone folder. The strip will open to the right. Adhere the large white piece in the center of the base over the calypso strip. Adhere it down with tombo. Fold the top of the white piece down and crease it well. Adhere your DSP on top of the white piece. Fold over the calypso strip and now you’re ready to adhere your stamped sentiment. First, adhere the stamped white piece to the small calypso piece. Adhere the two onto the calypso strip, in the middle. Finally, add your 3 rhinestones to the left of the sentiment on the tiny portion of calypso strip.
To use this card, flip open the sentiment to the right. Flip the DSP up and open it. Now you’ve got plenty of white space to write a note. Make sure you stamp the back with your logo if you have one. That’s it. This fun fold is one of the easier folds that I’ve seen and made and it’s a nice change from your basic card. You can see the other samples in the Fun Folds Cards Gallery.
This fun fold can be adapted to new colors, and new DSP that will be here in days. I’ve put in a pre-order for the 2020-21 catalog. Many of you have probably received your new cat by now. If you would like one, LMK and I’ll send one to you. We’ve got 5 new in-colors coming and I think you’ll like them. Plenty of new stamps of course and a new cutting machine that looks appealing.
So, I hope you found this helpful and a change of pace. If you have questions, please contact me by email or social media. Hang in there, and use this lockdown time to get those creative juices flowing! Ciao!
