I want to highlight a wonderful home decor item that is one of my favs, particularly on Independence Day. I learned how to make this project many years ago and have one hanging on the door of my office.
Before we get started, I should say that this project will show up in my next book, the sequel to “Orange Glow Stampers.” I’m still working on it and have been distracted due to Covid. Anyway, ribbon wreaths are fairly easy to make. You will need a few items like ribbon, sharp scissors, and a round frame.
I have made several different color wreaths, not just red, white, and blue, so use your ribbon stash and get creative. You will need a 12 inch round wreath frame, available at your craft store. Ribbon – either red, white, and blue, or other colors as desired and varied patterns and sizes. Cut the pieces to 11 inches each, about 125 pieces. You will need about 4 spools of ribbon.
Instructions: 1. Cut desired ribbon into 11 inch pieces. 2. Tie ribbon pieces around wreath and knot once. Alternate colors and patterns of ribbon. 3. Once you’ve gone around the entire wreath, take scissors and cut ends of ribbon on a diagonal. 4. Gift away or hang on door with metal hook.
This is a fantastic way to use all that ribbon, retired or otherwise, sitting on your shelf collecting dust. You’d be surprised how much ribbon you’ve accumulated over the years. I know a little something about that.
I have posted a photo of the red, white, and blue wreath in my Creative Galleries, Orange Glow Stampers projects. Check it out there. As I said, I’ve also used other colors that coordinate well. Just have some fun with it. And, these make great house gifts. So, what are you wating for? Go find your ribbon and start cutting. You’ll be thrilled to have some extra space on your shelf!
Happy Crafting and Happy Independence Day!
