I can’t believe it. Fifteen years ago, today, I signed up to be a demonstrator with Stampin’ Up! (SU) When I made that decision, I was simply interested in saving some money on my purchases, and getting that discount! As I learned, this is probably the number 1 reason folks sign up.
Let me backtrack. In 2005, I was raising my girls on Long Island, serving on several environmental boards, and working out everyday at Gold’s gym. It so happened that one of my friends, Anne, invited me to a ‘stamping party’ and wanting to support her, I went to the party and brought my 11 year old crafty daughter, who was also friends with Anne’s daughter. Are you confused yet?
There were a bunch of women at this party, and a sales lady who explained what stamping was. She demo’d a few cards, we made them, and then we ordered products so we could recreate these cards at home. I’m not one for direct sales events, as I always feel pressured to spend money on something that I’m not sure about. This was no different. After placing a fairly large order, cajoled by my daughter, and the thought of saving money, I signed up as a demonstrator. I have never looked back. Now, 15 years later, in a new state, and with girls that are in their 20s, I have to say thank you to Anne for inviting me to that party so many years ago.
I like to say that creativity changes lives and I feel so strongly about it that I wrote a novel called Orange Glow Stampers, which is ‘our’ story, about this amazing craft. I have met so many wonderful women through this craft at conventions, and was honored to speak at a crafting cruise before COVID. I enjoy making and sending handmade cards to friends and family, fellow Rotarians, and others. It’s my way of spreading some happiness. So, that’s my story. I love stamping, creating, and teaching others how to be creative. Plus, I’m still saving money on every purchase, and then some!

It just goes to show you that you never know who needs or wants a creative outlet so keep sharing your creations and your passions Rhonda, you don’t know who will get bitten by the stamping bug next 🙂 Miss you my friend!
