We just returned from a long needed trip to sunny south Florida to visit my folks who needed some social time. We enjoyed our time in Florida, although the drivers there are crazy and worse than New Yorkers. One of the things I like to gift to my mom is a nice pack of all occasion cards. She loves to send them to all her friends in the community and we all know that everyone appreciates a gorgeous hand made card.
When we arrived home to NC, we were on the lookout for gas lines or as my British friends say, petrol. As we headed over the bridge and made our way home, I was amazed at the long lines of cars, blocks long, waiting at 9pm to gas up their cars. We were tired at that point and as I was driving I couldn’t stop and take a photo. It brought me back to the Carter years and the 1970s. I remember as a child sitting in the backseat of my folks’ car, every other day, depending on your license tag, odd or even, and waiting on line to fill up the tank. I shook my head as I witnessed this horror happening in 2021. I never ever thought I’d witness this sort of thing again. The good thing was that a friend had texted me and alerted me to the NC gas shortage so we made sure that we tanked up in SC.
Gasoline is a commodity and without it, we couldn’t do much and our lives would be very different. If you thought the pandemic was a nightmare, this takes the cake. Whether the cause was cyber related or not, who really knows as the government and media are no longer trustworthy. We don’t need another crisis when so many are depressed and dying. I do hope the government can get things back to normal by tomorrow as enough is enough, BASTA!
So, what’s my point in all of this? Find your silver lining. If you’re stuck at home, again, get into your craft room and start creating. The new SU catalog is here with lots of new cool products. Try a paper pumpkin kit. I’ve posted some new cards using the spiral dye which is my new favorite. It makes awesome easy colorful fun cards for any occasion. Go to my gallery and check it out. How many breads are you up to now you might ask? I’ve baked 87 banana nut breads and will continue on to 100 and then we’ll see where we’re at. My everything cookies have taken top priority now as they’re so dang good! I know I need to do some more videos on my youtube channel and will get to that soon. In the meantime, stay safe, enjoy the warmer weather, and get crafting! Let it be your lifesaver!
